Achaval Ferrer

Achaval-Ferrer was founded in 1998 based on two sound principles: the search for the highest quality in all products and respect for the terroir. The idea was to make full use of the extreme personality of Argentina’s soil, its plentiful sunshine and the rarity of its ancient upgrafted vineyards, almost an exclusivity in today’s world of viticulture. Achaval-Ferrer is based on the friendship and respect of two very strong cultures, the Italian and the Argentinean. The sharp and intuitive vision of Italian winemaker Robert Cipresso, has led to a greater understanding of terroir in a way that is unprecedented in Argentina. The vineyards are located in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, at the foot of the Andes mountain range. The desert -like conditions of soil and climate are ideal for growing Malbec and other red varieties. Low yields, poor and well drained soils, great thermal amplitude (warm days and cold nights): everything combines to ripen grapes that can be made into balanced, complex, deep, structured wines


Malbec
Malbec

This wine emphasizes all the characteristics of this unique cepage with its concentration, purity, dark color and youthful aroma. It has a nose that mixes blackberry and black cherry fruit tones with some floral nuances. The wine is matured for 10 months in 95% French oak and 5% American oak. Extra attention is paid to maintain the necessary balance between the wood and the fruit without losing its spontaneity.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon

An accurate reflection of its variety, Cabernet Mendoza delivers a sharp and direct message where the fruit overcomes the mineral nuances. Originating from small patches of vineyards located in the first area in Mendoza, this wine that has very little production highlights a juicy texture filled with black and red fruitiness. Far from abstractions it allows for a lovely walk toward that of pleasure.

Cabernet Mendoza is an expression of spontaneity and vitality resulting from its youthfulness.

Quimera
Quimera

Fermentation took place in small tanks with aging for 12 months in 98% French oak and 2% American oak barrels; two thirds of the barrels were one year old while the other one third was new. Early blending is a risky practice, but helps towards a seamless integration of the varieties; wine with only one soul. The result is a wine that is not just the sum of three varietals, but another milestone in the search of an ideal hence the name, “Quimera”: an impossible goal, but one worth challenging.

Finca Miardor
Finca Mirador

Malbec is the flagship red variety from Argentina and Mendoza is the true home of this grape variety. Finca Mirador is located in Medrano, to the east of the city of Mendoza, with 12 acres of densely planted Malbec vines averaging over 40 years of age. Fermentation took place in small tanks and the wine was then aged for 14 months in 100% new French oak. It is dark ruby in color with an exotic nose of truffle, wild blueberry and black cherry. It is a medium-bodied, elegant Malbec with complex flavors, superb balance and a long finish.

Finca Altamira
Finca Altamira

Finca Altamira is located in La Consulta in the Uco Valley, south of Mendoza, and contains 10 acres of densely planted old-vine Malbec. It is opaque purple/black in color with aromas of espresso, black cherry, and blackberry. The wine is dense and remarkably rich with assorted black fruits emerging on the palate. It is very well balanced with integrated oak, tannin and acidity. Fermentation took place in small tanks. The wine was then pressed and racked into French oak barrels, 100% new, where it was then aged for 15 months. In order for the Finca series to express the difference in terroirs, they are all vinified using the same process.
