Since the establishment in 1973 of Cakebread Cellars in California’s Napa Valley, company founder Jack Cakebread, his wife and their sons and their wives, have been involved in the winery from grape growing to sales, and with their fastidious work have received critical acclaim for their world-class winemaking. With their innovative agriculture techniques, and method of getting to know their consumers, the Cakebread family has for over 33 years embodied a lot of deep changes in the wine producing industry. However in contrast, the most important thing, their sense of values, has not changed. This wine company that started off as a tiny vineyard to becoming known around the world, even now continues with its family commitment and determination in making the highest quality wine.


Sauvignon Blanc

Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc is produced primarily from grapes grown at Cakebread Cellar’s Napa Valley estate vineyards in Rutherford, as well as from vineyards in St. Helena and Calistoga to the north. These mid and up-valley sites deliver fruit of great character, enabling produce a crisp, full-bodied, complex style of Sauvignon Blanc to be produced. The wine’s vibrant grapefruit and melon flavors benefit from a firm underpinning of acidity and a refreshing minerality that asserts itself in the finish. A further spiciness lasts until the end.

Chardonnay
Chardonnay

This Napa Valley Chardonnay represents a blend of grapes from the cool Carneros region in southern Napa Valley and fruit from vineyards in the warmer northern half of the valley. This district blending enables the production of a Chardonnay with the rich, ripe fruit flavors typical of warmer microclimates balanced by the crisp acidity characteristic of cool-climate fruit. This wine has aromas of ripe pear and sweet citrus aromas lifted by fragrant white flower and subtle toasted oak. On the palate, a sleek entry expands into a creamy, concentrated mid-palate with rich lemon zest, melon, white peach and vanilla flavors. It has a seamless, mineral tinged finish. An extremely well balanced wine.

Merlot
Merlot

Cakebread Cellars Merlot comes from two classic regions in Napa Valley: the cool-climate Carneros district in the southern part of the valley, which yields bright fruit with crisp acidity, and the mid-valley Rutherford district, whose warmer temperatures produce ripe, rich fruit with juicy red berry and cherry flavors. This wine, aged for 20 months in French oak, is a bright ruby color with a complex aroma of ripe cherry fruit mixed with ripe plum, raspberry and toasted oak. On the palate, this wine offers lavish black cherry and plum flavors accented with the black tea leaves and spice. The tannins are smooth and last long and deep on the palate.

Cabernet Sauvignon

The grapes for this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon come from more than a dozen vineyards stretching from the cool Carneros district in the south to the warm Calistoga region at the northern end of the valley, with the majority from the mid-valley Rutherford appellation. Blending fruit from multiple clones and microclimates enables Cakebread Cellars to craft a complex Cabernet Sauvignon melding the bright, crisp fruit characteristics of Napa’s cooler regions with the lush black fruit flavors and firm tannins typical of the valley’s warmer climates. The wine’s lush, deep berry and cassis flavors are seamlessly balanced by firm, supple tannins, leading to a long, rich oak-enhanced finish.

Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon
Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon

The grapes for this Napa Valley Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon, which contains 3% Syrah,
come from several prime hillside vineyards in the Oakville and Rutherford appellations.
And, like the gently sloping Benchlands,
Cakebread Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon is soft and elegant with rich,
ripe berry flavors veiled by delicately balanced tannins.
It displays forward, fragrant aromas of concentrated blackcurrant,
blackberry and plum fruit with fascinating secondary scents of cocoa powder, hazelnuts, earth and warm spices.
On the densely packed palate, rich black fruit, dark chocolate and briary spice flavors are framed by supple,
elegant tannins, leading to a long, savory finish.

Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon
Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon

This single-vineyard Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from several special blocks of grapes grown
in the acclaimed Vine Hill Ranch along Oakville’s gently sloping western benchlands.
It boasts intense, concentrated aromas of dusty black fruits, ripe figs, violets, dark chocolate, warm baking spices and minerals.
The big, concentrated palate delivers impressively deep, expansive flavors of cassis, black fig, spicy blackberry,
and chocolate with an intriguing streak of minerality asserting itself in the long, firmly structured finish.
