Chianti Classico
The Sangiovese and Canaiolo grown on the Isole e Olena estate cover 290 hectares in the heart of the Chianti Classico hills between Florence and Siena. The wine is matured for about a year before bottling. It is then released after 3-4 months aging in the bottle. Dark ruby in color, the Chianti Classico has a clean and fresh perfumed nose of red cherry and strawberry. It is medium bodied and boasts copious floral, minty red berry and red cherry flavors of lovely purity, with a smooth yet vibrant texture nicely firmed by an edge of acidity. ■ Grape Varieties 80% Sangiovese, 20% Canaiolo and other reds. ※Cepage varies slightly according to vintage |

Cepparello
The concept and style of Cepparello was developed by Paolo De Marchi over a period beginning in the mid 1970s. The wine is named after a small stream, Borro Cepparello, originating in the highest point of the vineyards on the Isole e Olena estate. After barrel aging in French and American oak for 14 to 18 months, it is then aged in the bottle for one year before release. The wine is dense and intense but has a subtle finesse that frames lovely, dense, black fruit purity. It exhibits a lively color, fresh aromatics and a nuanced personality. It boasts layers of vibrant fruit intermingled with subtle mineral and licorice notes, showing outstanding length on the palate and fine, noble tannins. ■ Grape Varieties 100% Sangiovese |

Vin Santo
The grapes used in the Vin Santo are fermented and aged in small caratelli barrels for 5 years before bottling. The wine is deep amber in color. This outstanding sweet wine finishes extremely complex and long. ■ Grape Varieties 65% Malvasia del Chianti, 35% Trebbiano ※Cepage varies slightly according to vintage |

Chardonnay (Collezione de Marchi)
As Paolo De Marchi started using less and less white grapes in the Chianti Classico blend, he decided to use the best Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes to increase the production for Vin Santo and to make a still white table wine from a blend of the remaining grapes. After a few attempts, he realised that the best wine was one produced from 100% Chardonnay, so grafted Chardonnay onto existing vines on the ISOLE e OLENA estate. 1987 was the first vintage for the ‘Collezione De Marchi Chardonnay’. The Chardonnay is made in a more Burgundian style than most in Italy. It remains on the lees in 1/3 new oak barrels 10 months (up to 12 months depending on the vintage). During the first six months the wines is stirred occasionally, in the Burgundian style. Fresh and aromatic, with cream, ripe pineapple and lime aromas that follow through to a full body, with lively honey, ripe apple and toasty oak character. Long and rich with intense flavors. ■ Grape Variety 100% Chardonnay |

Cabernet Sauvignon (Collezione de Marchi)
All the grapes are grown on the Isole e Olena estate’s 49 hectares of vineyards, 5 of which are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are situated on the western border of the Chianti Classico zone. 100% barrel aged in French and American oak for 24 months, this is a deep red colored wine. It shows pure berry and cassis fruit flavors on the palate and focused and layered expressions of blackberry fruit, vanilla, and minerals. It is savory in flavor, velvety in texture with firm yet supple tannins and a slight cedary spice on the finish. ■ Grape Varieties 100% Cabernet Sauvignon |

Syrah (Collezione de Marchi)
The first Syrah vines, which came from the Rhone Valley, were grafted onto old Canaiolo vines in 1984. Paolo De Marchi’s intention was originally to use the Syrah in the Classico Chianti blend, together with Sangiovese and Canaiolo but he was so encouraged by the results that in 1987, he planted a new vineyard with Syrah clones from France. The wine spends one year in barrel, of which 25% is new French and American oak and it remains two years in the bottle before release. It is complex and soft on the nose, and its intense palate reveals lush and powerful fruit. This is a rich, gamey, quintessentially Tuscan Syrah. It is perfectly integrated with elegant, finely grained oak notes, and tremendous persistence. ■ Grape Varieties 100% Syrah |
