Brut Réserve NV  

It is said that the reputation of a champagne house is determined by its non-vintage champagne. The blending of the “Brut Reserve” is a very orgulous and complicated operation that traditionally only the Pol Roger family and the cellar master are involved in. The palate is a balance of intensity and finesse and this versatile champagne can be enjoyed not only as an aperitif, but also as a perfect accompaniment to meals.

 Grape variety
Pinot Noir 33%, Chardonnay 33%, Pinot Meunier 33%. Brut Reserve is traditionally blended from 30 still base wines drawn from Cru, Cepage and at least two vintages. The Pinot Noir gives structure and depth, the Pinot Meunier contributes a rich fruity taste and the Chardonnay lends subtlety and finesse.

 Winemaking and Maturing
Essentially only cuvee is used. Once the must has been clarified, the wine is fermented in strictly temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, thereby preserving the aroma and fruity characteristics. The wine is then aged in the deepest, low temperature underground cellar in Epernay for a minimum of three years. Remuage is carried out manually by a specialist craftsman and after dosage (about 9 grams to a liter) it is left to settle until adjustment is complete before shipping.

 Tasting Notes
Pale yellow in color with exquisite, rich bubbles. The nose shows pear, mango, honeysuckle and jasmine blossoms. The aromas of brioche and vanilla also appear with time. After a simple yet dynamic attack, it has a beautiful harmony with a pleasant freshness showing flavors of quince jelly, apricot jam, game and acacia honey. Lasting and pleasant finish with nuances of orange peel, mandarin and spices such as cardamom and aniseed.
